The body of a 27-year-old man was found in Emandleni informal settlement, Wattville, on October 9.
Actonville police are appealing for information from the public.
The victim had been stabbed in the upper body and was certified dead on scene by paramedics.
Actonville SAPS spokesperson Sgt Godin Nyathi said police were called by a community member who saw the body.
“The motive for the killing is unknown. Community members who may have witnessed anything or have information can report this to the police anonymously,” said Nyathi.
A case of murder was opened at the station.
