#IMadeMyMark: You have until 21:00 to cast your vote today

Voting stations will remain open until 21:00.

Calling all residents in wards 29 and 73 – now is the time to go to your designated voting stations to make your mark in the 2021 municipal elections.

The City Time visited Actonville Primary, Benoni West Primary and the Actonville Community Centre this morning where there were no long queues and things were going smoothly.

Ward 29

Saleem Essakjee made his mark at Actonville Primary School where 2 284 residents were registered to vote at the station.

Essakjee explained that it was important for him to vote for change.

“We need to vote to get rid of the corruption in our country and the only way we can do that is to vote for the change we want to see,” he said.

“Loadshedding is one of the bigger issues in our country. We buy our own electricity but we are told when we are able to use it. We need to get rid of the people that have allowed it to go this far.”

Mzamo Nsele added that it was important for the young people to jump on board to make their mark as it is time they get involved.

Saleem Essakjee just wants to have no struggles with electricity among other issues in South Africa.
Mia Muhamed made his mark and said the process was fast and efficient.
Mzamo Nsele said it is important for those over 18 years of age to make their mark in order to play a part in the country.
Voters, Ebrahim Mahomed (left), Rabiya Ismael, Nelly Mafanaya and Zaida Ebrahim were proud to make their mark.
Maria (left) and Rodney Karelse made their mark.

Ward 73

Benoni West Primary are expecting 2 116 voters who registered to make their mark at the voting station. Udine Pretorius and Ivan Roux were two of the oldest voters who opted not to go through the special voting process and walked through the doors to make their mark.

Presiding officer at the Actonville Community Centre said that the process has been running smoothly thus far and by 10:00 over 200 voters walked through their doors.

They are expecting close to 3 000 voters as per the registration chart.

Barry Steyn had a busy day ahead but made sure he made his mark first because it was his priority.
