The Sole Mates Walking Club, in partnership with Buyani House, hosted a spring walk fund-raiser on October 17 at the John Barrable sports field.

Over 30 participants took part in the 5km and 10km walk to raise funds for the organisation, which will go towards the daily services provided.

Buyani House was established in 2010 and is an outreach of the Anglican church in Benoni, based at the All Souls Church, in Northmead.

The main aim of the organisation is to help the needy in whatever way possible.

Buyani House runs a soup kitchen, serving meals four days a week, provides food parcels and groceries to the families of orphans and vulnerable children at Katlego School in Daveyton and distributes other donations to where they are needed most.

Counselling is an important service offered by Buyani House and is carried out by trained professionals.

Assistance and mentoring are also offered to applicants who need support to start their businesses.

The organisation is solely reliant on donations and the generosity of the community would be appreciated to assist to meet the needs of any of its projects.
