15 injured in crash on Modderbee Road

The driver of the light motor vehicle was not found on the scene.

Yesterday morning (January 22), 15 people were injured when a light motor vehicle and taxi collided on Modderbee Road, Benoni.

According to Russel Meiring, communications officer for ER24, the paramedic service arrived at 06:00 to find a light motor vehicle in the road and a taxi that had rolled and come to a stop a short distance away.

“Several people were seen walking around the scene or seated on the pavement,” he said.

“Medics assessed the patients and found that a woman from the car and 14 men and women from the taxi had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities were found.

“The patients were treated and later transported to nearby hospitals for further care.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle was not found on the scene. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
