Five arrested for illegal munitions

Officers who arrested the suspects, have been praised for their relentless hard work.

The Putfontein SAPS arrested five suspects for possession of unlicenced firearms, ammunition and explosives.

The arrest took place on January 26 at around 04:00 after police officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on the corner of Jones and Kingsway roads.

According to Putfontein police spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi, the officers stopped the vehicle and requested to search it.

“They found a 9mm para girsan pistol and a guerrilla gangster gas gun.

“Thirty rounds of ammunition and two explosive tubes were also found in the car,” said Ubisi.

The Putfontein SAPS station commander Lt Col Wellington Mathiane praised the officers for their relentless efforts in ensuring that the community is kept safe.
