Thieves arrested at vehicle pound

More arrests as BFS continue operations.

Three brazen criminals were arrested on February 13 after they were caught with stolen goods at the Van Rijn Deep vehicle pound, in Benoni.

According to WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS), members were dispatched to the scene and found the suspects hiding under a truck.

“They were in possession of a Kia engine and seven truck tyres,” he said.

Weekend operations also led the arrests of 10 additional suspects on charges of theft, possession of stolen goods as well as possession of drugs.

On February 11, two men were arrested and a Hyundai H100 was impounded on Celia Nestadt Street, Benoni.

“The suspects were in possession of fibre cable rolls that had been stolen from a property in Rennie Road, Benoni North,” he said.

“On February 12, members were following up information regarding a white Volkswagen Golf, in Crystal Park, which had been reported as stolen in Alberton. Three suspects were apprehended on Pretoria Road.”

Five suspects were arrested in Thembisa and Esselen Park for being in possession of illegal substances, dagga, cocaine, heroine, and Mandrax were recovered in these separate incidents.

Further investigations led to the recovery of three abandoned vehicles, which have been reported as stolen.
The suspects will soon be appearing in the local magistrates’ courts.
