Join Women’s World Day of Prayer service
You are invited to join as we lift our minds and hearts in prayer
Christian women are called upon to participate in the 92nd annual Women’s World Day of Prayer in Benoni.
The day is commemorated in 176 countries worldwide, during which women join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
Annually, more than 100 000 women in Southern Africa take part.
The theme for this year is “I know the plans I have for you’ (Jeremiah 29:11) and serves as an invitation to place our trust in God during times of hardship.
This year’s Benoni event will take place on March 4 at 09.30 for 10.00 at Our Lady of the Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 33 Celia Nestadt Road, Benoni.

Background
Women’s World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement of Christian women.
In South Africa, the first World Day of Prayer service was held in March 1930 in Sea Point Congregational Church and in 1946 a national committee for Southern Africa was established.
The members of the committee are nominated by various church leaders.
The international office distributes the theme and worship booklet around the world and the national committee in South Africa distributes the order of service to Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Eswatini and Zimbabwe as well as having the order of service available in eight of the languages of South Africa.
The prayer programme is compiled by a chosen country each year and this year England, Wales and Northern Ireland have written the worship booklet.
