A second bogus cop was arrested in Ekurhuleni in a space of three days.
On February 24, a sting operation conducted by the EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Management, JMPD and the Johannesburg Crime Intelligence Unit arrested the suspect in Ntshonalanga, Thembisa.
“He was in possession of a police uniform, ammunition four pistols and assault rifles,” said Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the metro.
“Upon investigation, the police also recovered police caps, a firearm magazine, constable rank flasher and SAPS masks.”
He is facing various charges, including possession of an unlicensed firearm, ammunition and impersonating police officers.
MMC for Community Safety Letlhogonolo Moseki said this arrest was a testament that the authorities were on the right track to eliminate criminal activities in the metro.
“Ekurhuleni is not a home for criminals. We are going to root out all criminal elements.
“It is time to take back our streets from criminals,” said Moseki.
