Stolen vehicle containing signal jammer recovered

Successful weekend operations

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested three and recovered three vehicles as well as two motorcycles during weekend operations, from April 8.

According to WO Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson, another person was arrested on charges of bribery, making this the third arrest in two weeks.

“On April 8 at 13:00, we received information of a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser travelling on the N1 highway towards the R21,” he said.

“Members caught up with the vehicle at the Nelmapius off-ramp. After confirming that the vehicle was stolen, the driver was arrested and a signal-jamming unit, used to block tracking systems, was found inside the vehicle.

At the Lyttleton Police Station, a man offered officers R2 000 for the release of the suspect.

He was arrested on charges of bribery.

Further weekend successes include:
Possession of drugs
A man was arrested in Makuleni Street, Ivory Park. He was found in possession of Mandrax.

Vehicle recoveries
A white Man truck was recovered in Durandt Street, Putfontein. It was hijacked in Norkem Park.

A white Toyota Hilux that was hijacked in Putfonein was found in Jasmine Street, Kempton Park.

Two motorcycles were recovered, the first was found abandoned on the R25, next to the R21 while a black Big Boy motorcycle was recovered in Vuma Street, Ivory Park.
