Letter: Balance is important

Share the news from every side and let all be enabled to identify with the high themes of the season, said the writer.

Rev Richard Verreynne, of Benoni, writes:
Thank you for covering the tragic story of Amanda Lightfoot, and also the celebration story of the Nel couple (issue dated April 22).

Being a journalist carries great responsibility because you have to sensitively allow your readers to get a picture of the sweet and bitter of life.

I was, therefore, deeply touched when my eye caught the heading ‘Month of Spiritual Enrichment’ (City Times, April 22, page 5), but sadly only Ramadan was featured.

May God bless our Muslim neighbours, but I think even they would have agreed that a large part of your readers were deeply impacted by the love God expressed through Jesus Christ, His sacrificial death that was celebrated on Good Friday (April 14) and the exuberance of His resurrection to life, celebrated in thousands of big and small churches across Ekurhuleni.

Truly, in the bitter and sweet of life, we have found great spiritual comfort in God’s love, the memory of Jesus on the cross and the empty tomb.

Share the news from every side and let all be enabled to identify with the high themes of the season.
