I Love Benoni team stands for their community

The pair said they were fed up with the common sight of potholes.

The I Love Benoni Team recently took action to repair potholes around the city.

Trevor Bridges and Zahid Hajat are the driving forces behind the project, which began last year, and is made up of local entrepreneurs and Bad Boyz Security.

The project provides the community with services such as repairing potholes and providing food to the vulnerable.

Bridges, who is also a member of AfriForum, said they began the project because the state of the area did not sit well with them.

“We lodge complaints, but nothing has been done. As a result, we took the initiative and fixed the potholes ourselves,” said Bridges

“We are hopeful that we will fix as many potholes as possible. We received funding from Zido Cars and community members, particularly entrepreneurs, to purchase tar for road repairs. Our goal is to repair the large holes first.”

According to Hajat, co-owner of Zido Cars, they felt the need to take action because it is an ongoing problem.

“People’s tyres and rims are being damaged or, worse, they get into an accident. The Ekurhuleni ward councillors need to do something about this,” said Hajat.

Shoaib Hajat, a community member, said he was fed up with the common sight of potholes.
