BFS arrest three during weekend operations

The suspects aged 30 to 41 years will be appearing soon in court.

Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) weekend operations, from May 13 to 15, saw three suspects arrested and five abandoned vehicles recovered.

On May 15 members traced a wanted person travelling in a red Kia Picanto to a shopping centre on Kingfisher Avenue, Sunward Park.

“The suspect was sought by the police in connection with a case of theft reported in Mondeor,” said WO Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the unit.

“He was arrested on the scene.”

In two separate incidents, two men were arrested in Tembisa on charges of being in possession of drugs.

“A man arrested in Entshonalanga Section was found in possession of 248 small packets containing dagga, each weighing 1,7 kg,” said Giblin.

“An additional charge of bribery was brought against him after he allegedly offered officers R200 for his release.”

The suspects aged 30 to 41 years will be appearing soon in court.

Further successes of the weekend included the recovery of five abandoned hijacked vehicles, three of which were reported in Boksburg.
