Fundraiser a success

A fun run to raise funds for six-year-old Chi-Nelri Smith’s liver transplant treatment, held at The Parks Farmers Market on May 28, was a success.

The foggy conditions didn’t prevent people from coming as a total of 100 people took part in the event which had 2km, 5km and 10km races. Each participant received the Gr8 to Don8 T-shirt, which aimed to spread organ donation awareness.

Chi-Nelri Smith needs funds for her liver transplant treatment.

“Chi-Nelri had a liver transplant three years ago. The surgery was successful even though there were a few complications a couple of months after that. She was diagnosed with numerous other diseases, which the doctors at Donald Gordon Hospital are treating.

“The misty morning surely ended well with a hot cappuccino and heartfelt thankfulness towards a good cause,” said Cornè Scheepers.

Scheepers told the paper that Chi-Nelri will be admitted to hospital again on June 9.
