BFS crime in brief

A signal jamming device was also found in the backseat of the vehicle

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) arrested four and recovered six vehicles during a 24-hour cycle, on May 30 and 31.

Hijacking
On May 30, at 22:00, members responded to a call made to the 10111 call centre about a white Toyota Quantum that had been hijacked in Sharpville and was travelling on the R21 towards Pretoria.

“Members were able to intercept the vehicle at the R23 onramp and two suspects were arrested,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, spokesperson for the unit.

One of the suspects was in possession of his personal Norinco pistol, with one live round of ammunition.

“They will be facing charges of possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.”

Possession of drugs
Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents and will face charges of being in possession of drugs.
A man was arrested in Station Road, Brakpan, and was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.

The second suspect was found in possession of heroin in North Rand Road, Kempton Park.
