Actonville police educates the youth about dangers of substance abuse

Actonville youth were adviced to say no to drugs

To celebrate Youth Day on June 16, Actonville SAPS conducted a substance abuse awareness event at the Actonville Community Hall.

Stakeholders such as the CPF, Department of Community Safety, EMPD, Gauteng Healthcare, GBV Brigades, Kavishan Youth Empowerment and Nantical Fisheries took part in the event.

Youth on the Movement graced the audience with an amazing play called the Neglected Treasure, while Maze group and Phatsima Wattville Youth Forum performed some exceptional dances.

Const Valencia Lekgau of Actonville SAPS said the event was aimed at creating awareness about the dangers of substance abuse.

“Youngsters need to abstain from using drugs because they are one of the reasons why people get involved in crime. The police station is always open and if there is any crime you want to report, feel free.” said Lekgau.

Miss East Rand finalist of 2022, Freddonecia Olyn, advised the youth tp protect themselves from criminals by being vigilant on the streets.

Actonville SAPS social coordinator Rani Lutchman thanked the stakeholders for making the event an success.

“Such events are a reason why some of the youth succeed in life because it is all fun and games but in an educational way,” said Lutchman.
