Rynfield man arrested in connection with two stolen vehicles

Both vehicles were reported as stolen in Tembisa

A 28-year-old man was arrested on June 25, at a residential complex in Uys Road, Rynfield, for being in possession of two stolen vehicles.

The arrest was made after members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) received information about a suspicious white Mercedes A-class parked at the premises.

“Verified information indicated that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Thembisa, earlier this month,” said Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, BFS spokesperson.

“The suspect was found in possession of the vehicle’s keys.”

Further investigations led to the discovery of a red Volkswagen Polo, which was parked nearby. It too had been reported as stolen in Thembisa South, in February.

“The second vehicle bore false number plates and the suspect was also in possession of the Polo’s keys,” said Giblin.

“A case of being in possession of stolen vehicles is currently underway,” Giblin said.
