Church hands over sleeping bags to the homeless

The sleeping bags are made from canvas material

A group of homeless people from Benoni will keep warm this winter after receiving sleeping bags from the Northfield Methodist Church, Mission and Outreach Ministry.

This comes after Thapelo Langa, of MediaMobileSA, and Theo Baloyi, CEO of BathuSwag, donated 15 sleeping bags to the church to distribute to the homeless.

The sleeping bags, made from canvas material, have been welcomed by the beneficiaries.

Past Khaya Mnyanda, head of mission and outreach said Langa, who used to live in Benoni, organised community members in Polokwane where he lives to assist him in sewing the bags, after receiving canvas material from Baloyi.

Mnyanda said the church is appealing to the public to donate canvas material so they can reach out to more homeless people.

To donate or for more information contact Mnyanda on 073 272 1842.
