Man given 15-year sentence for killing his cousin

The 22-year-old was declared unfit to possess a firearm in the Benoni Magistrates Court

A 22-year-old man was recently sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for strangling his 14-year-old cousin to death.

According to Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Khensani Mathebula, the child’s body was found hidden in the suspect’s bedroom on December 27, 2021.

It is reported that the suspect strangled the boy before hiding his body.

The case was investigated by Detective Sergeant Nivea Malatjie who managed to link the suspect to the murder.

The murderer was also declared unfit to possess a firearm when he was sentenced in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
