Kids enjoy fun day out

Kids from two local places of safety were treated to a fun day out.

Laughter and delighted squeals could be heard throughout the Happy Souls community market, in Northmead, on March 4 as vulnerable kids were treated to a day filled with fun.

As the scent of boerewors cooking on the flames filled the air, 30 children from Benoni Child Welfare’s Colin House and Huis Charis bounced, slipped and skid on the foam covered water slide with market organiser, Trevor Terblanche, entertaining them with pumping tunes and swashbuckling pirate antics.

Tending to the fire, Kobus Kleinscheldt of East Rand Buggies, VW aircooled club says that members jumped at the opportunity to be part of the fun day and to be able to cook for the kids while they had the chance of just having fun.

“Our club was founded at the beginning of 2022, with the aim of bringing buggie enthusiasts across the East Rand together” said Kleinscheldt.

“We are however not a formal club. We go on rides together, but more than anything we want to be of service to our community, reaching out to the most vulnerable.”

Hosting fun days for children in need, is one of the highlights on the market’s calendar.

“The club’s involvement was cause for great excitement as they happily let the kids look at their vehicles,” said Terblanche.

“Their contribution towards supplying lunch for those in attendance, is highly appreciated.”
