Metro to host supplier development sessions

Business owners are urged to attend these sessions in order to align their business practices with the metro’s supply chain management.

The Ekurhuleni metro invites local business to acquaint themselves with the Preferential Procurement Regulation of 2022, which came into effect on January 16.

The most notable change to the regulation, is the replacement of the broad-based black economic empowerment status level contributor, with specific goals.

As a result, points will from now on be allocated based on the specific transformative goals listed in the tender document.

Due to the changes the metro has updated its supply chain management policy and have introduced new framework specific goals.

“These goals are meant to increase the participation of previously marginalised members of the local economy due to the metro’s procurement process, without directly excluding any other citizen of the country,” said Zweli Dlamini, spokesperson for the metro.

“Up-coming training sessions will ensure that all targeted stakeholders are aligned with the changes to avoid possible rejection during the procurement process.”

Supplier development training sessions will be held on the following dates:
• Germiston: Clinic Auditorium at the Civic Centre, March 14 at 09:00.

• Kempton Park: Kempton Park City Hall March 15 at 09:00.

• Benoni: Actonville Community Hall, March 16 at 09:00.

Business owners who may be affected by these changes are urged to attend the scheduled sessions in order to become empowered to continue conducting business with the metro.
