Beware of disruptions during triathlon event
The event will start at 08:00 with the super-sprint, with the sprint following at 08:05 and standard distance at 08:15.
Residents are warned of disruptions at CR Swart Park and Ebotse Golf and Country Estate during the inaugural SEESA Triathlon on October 21.
According to organiser, Glen Gore, the affected areas include the Ebotse estate and roads in the vicinity where the cycling and running events are going to take place.
The events include the super-sprint, sprint and standard distances.
The super-sprint swim is a one lap of 200m, 10km cycling and 2km sprint while the sprint swim is a 750m lap with 20km cycling and 5km inside Ebotse Estate.
The standard distance swim is two laps of 1.5km, 40km cycling and two laps of 10km running inside Ebotse.
The event will also feature the super-sprint triathlon relay which will take place after all the main events.
“This event is based on the Olympic Games Team Relay where we have a team of four (two ladies and two gents) competing in relay format over a very short distance.
“This is a great way to get more families, schools and triathlon teams involved. With the distances being so short, athletes are easily able to compete in their main event and then compete in the team relay at the end. We see this team relay concept growing into something really big. Hopefully we can offer the national team relay championships in the not too distance future.”
The event will start at 08:00 with the super-sprint, with the sprint following at 08:05 and standard distance at 08:15.
“The wetsuits will be determined by the officials on race morning, after taking the temperature of the water, which should be around 22 to 22 degrees. All bikes will allowed. They must be roadworthy and you must bring along a helmet. The run is inside the estate with around 70m of trail,” said Gore.
Gore added all rules will be explained in detail at a briefing at 07:45 on race day.
