The Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) won the best group of the year.
Local SAPS members were honoured for their hard work and dedication at this year’s SAPS District Excellence Awards.
Members traded their uniforms for suits and evening wear when they filled the Germiston SAPS hall on October 6.
Several officers stationed at various police stations across Benoni walked away with awards.
Simphiwe Zulu, a general worker at the Benoni Police Station, received the first runner-up award in the admin employee of the year, level one to four category. Support commander at the police station, Colonel Reginah Rampota, congratulated and thanked Zulu for his commitment and discipline towards his job. She encouraged other members to follow in his footsteps.
The Putfontein SAPS received an award for being the first runner-up station of the year. The station was represented by the station commander, Lieutenant Colonel Wellington Mathiane.
Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli received the first runner-up award for Vispol employee of the year (social crime prevention and communication).
