Learner honours Siya Kolisi

His artwork made rounds on social media since last month.

East Rand School of the Arts (ERSA) learner Siphesihle Hlatswayo (17) has once again turned heads with his latest portrait of Springbok captain, Siya Kolisi.

His portrait has received positive feedback from locals after it went viral on social media last month.

According to Siphesihle he aimed with the artwork to acknowledge Kolisi’s remarkable role as the captain of the Springboks.

Seen here is the picture that trended on social media since last month.

“What I learnt from him is that our backgrounds should not hinder our aspirations and dreams. Meeting him in person is a dream I fervently hold to my heart as he stands as my ultimate rugby idol,” said Siphesihle.

Last year, Hlatswayo was featured in the Benoni City Times for his artistic portrait of the late Ricky Rick, his favourite hip-hop star.

The Grade 12 learner said it took him two days to perfect his masterpiece, adding that he drew Ricky Rick’s picture to keep his spirit alive.
