Cloverdene beautician and makeup artist Caroline Bapela (24) sees herself establishing at least five beauty salons and owning a makeup range in the next 10 years.
This comes after she made it to the final round of the Clash of South African Makeup Artists (COSAMUA) after being voted into the top 12 during the voting round in November.
She was eventually crowned the first runner-up in the Blooming category during the final gala dinner at Villa Africa Boutique Hotel in Pretoria on January 5.
“Making it to the top 12 wasn’t easy. Our supporters had to vote through SMS, the website and by liking our posts on COSAMUA’s Facebook page,” she said.

“I see myself doing makeup for celebrities and big pageants overseas in 10 years. I also want to have at least five makeup schools and my own makeup brand, which I will sell.”
Bapela, who owns Cee.t Effortless Beauty, said she decided to make this a career in October 2022 after being inspired by ladies she often saw doing their makeup in restaurants.
“I noticed whenever I went out that some women don’t apply their makeup properly, so I thought this could be a good career. They need someone professional to do it for them.”
She added, “I became a makeup artist in October 2022. I would encourage people who want to become makeup artists that before starting, they should at least get someone professional to guide them about how the industry works.”
