Hostel dweller arrested for being in possession of illegal ammunition

The 25-year-old suspect was found in possession of eight live rounds of ammunition in his pockets.

A 25-year-old man recently appeared before the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court after he was allegedly found with eight live rounds of ammunition.

His arrest came after police reacted to a tip-off from the community about an alleged drug dealer living at the Daveyton Hostel.

According to SAPS Ekurhuleni district communications officer Captain Nelda Sekgobela, when officers arrived at the address they found eight men inside.

“Upon searching them, one of the men was found in possession of eight live rounds of ammunition in his pockets. He failed to produce a licence for the live rounds.”

Sekgobela said the man was arrested and charged with possession of illegal ammunition.

The matter was postponed for further investigation.
