Police bring 59 criminals to book

Investigations into all cases are still under investigation.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) and Rapid Response Services (RRS) brought 59 criminals to book during concentrated routine operations between January 18 and 22.

Hijacked vehicle
A man was arrested at a pub in Lourie Road, Putfontein, on January 20, when he was found in possession of a white Toyota Starlet reported hijacked in Daveyton.

Abandoned vehicles recovered
• White Nissan Almera was found on the R25, Norkem Park.

• White Mercedes Benz Actros truck was recovered in Wychwood Street, Primrose.

• Grey Suzuki Alto was abandoned in a veld in Winnie Mandela Zone 10, Thembisa.

A stolen Xpulse motorcycle was recovered in Mayfield. It had been stripped of all usable parts.

Rapid Response Services
Members comprising of the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol across Gauteng arrested 58 suspects and recovered 31 vehicles and five unlicensed firearms.

• Twenty-two arrests were made for common assault, as well as assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery, possession of suspected stolen goods, execution of warrants of arrest, possession of car-breaking implements, damage to property, house robbery and possession of unlicenced ammunition.

• Eight arrests were made for possession of stolen vehicles

• Six suspects were arrested for being in possession of unlicenced firearms.

• Twenty two suspects were arrested on charges of possession of drugs with the intent to sell. Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.
