The marathon, half-marathon and 48km ultra-race will start at 06:00, with the 10km and 5km races following at 06:10. The race walking league will start at 06:15.

Residents in parts of Northmead and Rynfield are urged to be aware of disruptions along the route of the BNAC Marathon on Sunday (April 21).

The 42.2km and 48km is a double-lapper of the 21.1km through the Ebotse Estate. The runners in the ultra-race will divert in the 5km route after completing the marathon.

Clean and litter-free race

The BNAC and LitterBugs have partnered once again with Tshepo Mazibuko and his team of K1 Recycling to ensure a clean and litter-free race.

“We want to ensure that as much of the waste is sorted recycling, from sachets to cups and cardboard. We will also have more than 20 volunteers from local schools to assist on the day,” said LitterBugs’ Samantha Choles.

“We will be doing everything in our power to ensure that there are enough bins on route, and we will be encouraging the thousands of runners and walkers participating to make use of these bins.

“We are appealing to residents that live on the route to out their wheelie bins on the morning of the race, from about 06:00 to 12:00. We are hoping that this will further encourage runners not to litter. Littering is an issue that has plagued running and sporting events for years, and we want to turn the tide,” added Choles.
