WATCH: Shots fired as robbers blow up cash-in-transit van in Benoni

Lakefield Avenue and Lanyon Street was closed due to the cash-in-transit robbery.

The Benoni City Times is aware of a cash-in-transit heist which occurred this morning (June 15).

It’s understood that a G4S van which was travelling near Lanyon Bridge in Lakefield was allegedly attacked by a group of men who bombed the cash van.

 

Emergency services, police and local security companies attended the scene.

The Gauteng Provincial police have confirmed the incident. The newspaper is awaiting more information from the police.
