Dante bags three golds at championships

She competed in kata, kumite and wooden weapons.

Tenshinkan Karate Club’s Dante Lucas pocketed three gold medals during the SA Ryukyu Martial Arts Federation (SARMAF) all-styles championships at Kempton Park Indoor Centre on September 28.

Dante competed in kata, kumite and wooden weapons coming out tops in all three. In the latter category, she showed her class when she defeated the boys she went up against.

“I’m super proud of her. She got gold in all her categories. She’s very dedicated and always puts in the time and effort and it has paid off. She will go far in martial arts,” said her instructor, shihan Catherine Venter.
