Putfontein man sentenced to life for raping his mother (50)

A 25-year-old man from Putfontein has been sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his 50-year-old mother at their home on Christmas Day last year.

According to Ekurhuleni police spokesperson Warrant Officer Majang Skalkie, the mother was asleep when she was woken by a noise.

“She saw her son standing near her. He then strangled and raped her repeatedly before fleeing the house.

“The mother opened a case against her son and he was arrested and, ultimately, convicted of rape,” said Skalkie.

Detective Constable Sipho Naba of the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) investigated the case.
