Spellers excel at indigenous languages competition

The event is aimed to promote the use of the country's indigenous languages.

The Bacha Ba Dichaba Explorers (BBDE) successfully hosted the second annual indigenous languages spelling bee competition at Northfield Methodist Church on October 4.

The event, aimed at promoting the use of the country’s indigenous languages, featured schools from the province’s four regions with the participants competing in six of the 12 official languages.

The competition attracted learners from schools across the province.

The BBDE’s founder, Thabang Dichaba, thanked several stakeholders, including the 100% Foundation, volunteers and Northfield Methodist Church, for making the event a success.

“Congratulations to all the top 10 learners from all four regions who competed. We appreciate everyone who was with us in the second edition of our competition. It was successful,” said Dichaba.

The event aims to promote the use of indigenous languages.

The top three in each language were:

• Siphesihle Fakude
• Mpendulo Moya

Sepedi

• Tshilio Khantse
• Lethabo Sithole
• Nkwe Montsha

The second edition of the event took place at Northfield Methodist Church.

Setswana
