Many ways to support Benoni SPCA
All funds donated to the SPCA qualify for a S18A tax certificate.
Maybe you’ve always wanted to reach out to the Benoni SPCA but weren’t sure where to start or how to assist.
Here are four easy ways you can make a difference:
Charity shop
Benoni SPCA is always calling on local residents to support its charity shop, a vital source of income that helps the organisation continue its mission to care for animals in need.
The newly revamped shop, located within the SPCA grounds, sells a wide range of quality second-hand goods at bargain prices – such as clothing for adults and children, adult and children’s books, toys, picture frames, linen, curtains, cutlery, crockery, mirrors and much more.
The SPCA relies on every item that comes through their doors, whether small or big.
“For big items such as furniture or other, we can collect. These donations allow us to provide essential care to animals and to cover everything from food, staff costs and other supplies,” said Benoni SPCA’s fundraising organiser, Monique Quenet.
The charity shop operates Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 16:00 and Saturdays from 8:30 to noon. Items can be dropped off at the SPCA any time during open hours.
Animal food
Animals in their care are fed up to three times a day, so they are always in need of wet and dry food for cats and dogs. They also need collars, leads, harnesses and belts with buckles, which they use to make collars for distribution during their outreaches.
In addition, the society welcomes donations of dog and cat bowls, litter boxes, blankets, towels and dog jerseys.
Essential supplies
Dishwashing liquid, F10 disinfectant, building materials, pallets and office supplies are always needed.
MySchool
Make Benoni SPCA your selected beneficiary in the MySchool programme. The programme raises over R8 million for schools, charities and animal welfare organisations every month.
The best part is it doesn’t cost you a cent to make a difference. How does MySchool work? You can make a difference just by shopping at one of the many MySchool partners, such as Woolworths and Engen Quick Shop, to name a few. Every time you use your card at any of the partner stores, a percentage of your purchase value will be given back on your behalf to Benoni SPCA, at absolutely no cost to you!
Volunteer
Benoni SPCA is always happy to welcome volunteers. Your experience of working with animals will dictate what you could be asked to assist with.
