Illegal immigrants
Eight men aged 26 to 36 were arrested on Durant Road, Putfontein, on November 7.

The EMPD Bronberg precinct officers arrested the men, from Malawi and Zimbabwe, on charges of contravening Section 49 (1) of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002).

Vehicles recovered
• Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) members recovered two stolen and hijacked vehicles on November 5.
The members were following up on information about a Toyota Cross, reported as stolen in Heidelberg, parked inside a Crystal Park property.

Officers also recovered a second vehicle, a white Mahindra. It was reportedly hijacked in De Deur.
There were no arrests.

• The BFS arrested two men aged 54 and 62 on Fourth Avenue, Edenvale, on November 7.

The members were called to assist the local CPF after a silver Toyota Corolla was flagged in connection with a theft that occurred in Secunda.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen in Primrose.

A police-issued cap was found inside it.

Unlicenced firearm
The BFS members arrested a 30-year-old man at a service station in Bapsfontein on November 9.

Concerned community members stopped the patrolling BFS vehicle to alert them of a suspicious man loitering on the premises.

Following a routine search, officers found the man in possession of an unlicenced 9mm Norinco pistol, which was painted black.
