Hospice candles celebration postponed

Hospice is joining hands with the Homestead Helpers for Benoni to honour those in need.

Hospice East Rand’s annual Candles Celebration, set to take place at St Dunstan’s College on November 16 has been postponed.

“South Africa is a country of great pride and due to the Springboks facing England at Twickenham on the same day a decision was made to cancel this year’s event,” said Jonquil Siepman, the organisation’s marketing and media liaison.

“Slower than expected ticket sales were a clear indication that the upcoming event would not have enjoyed sufficient support from the community.

“However, not all is lost. We are thrilled to announce that we will be partnering with Homestead Helpers for Benoni’s Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Market at Homestead Dam on December 8.”

The jingling-jangle market takes place from 10:00 to 17:00. Afterwards, grab your camping chairs and picnic basket and enjoy the harmonious carols by candlelight until 20:00.

“We encourage residents to use this opportunity to light a candle for those living with a life-threatening disease, while we remember those who fought bravely,” said Jonquil.
