Artists Working Together (AWT) will showcase vibrant collections from local artists at an exhibition at Northmead Square from November 25 to December 1.

AWT has partnered with several local businesses to offer exciting prizes to attendees, including an R1 000 Checkers voucher sponsored by AWT, an R500 framing voucher from Rustinique Art and Frame, a breakfast for two at Café Mirosta valued at R150, and an exclusive art workshop for 10 family members or friends at your home or another venue of your choice.

According to Karen Bond, participants who wish to take part in the competition will be required to vote for their favourite artist to stand a chance of winning an amazing prize.

AWT was established in 2007 by a few artists from Benoni and has thrived over the years.

“We have exhibited in various places in Gauteng and the East Rand, but recently, it’s mostly been in Benoni.

“We are grateful to Northmead Square for providing the space and allowing us to exhibit several times a year.”

Bond said before the exhibition, a committee will oversee the selection process, during which each artist will fill out an entry form.

“We have a panel of judges who decide if the work meets an acceptable standard for exhibition. If not, the work is rejected or altered to meet the standards.

“We raise money through our annual membership fees, which cover overheads like transport, display screens, storage, and potentially sponsorships, advertising, and prizes. Each participant pays a small hanging fee to help with expenses,” said Bond.
