WATCH: Community gets into the festive spirit at Christmas craft event
Alison Etherington of Clean Projects said the craft event aimed to inspire people to stop buying single-use products and embrace recycling.
The Benoni Country Club was transformed into a dazzling wonderland of eco-friendly creativity on November 16 during Clean Projects’ Christmas craft event.
The banqueting hall brimmed with festive cheer as glittering decorations, crafted entirely from recyclable materials such as toilet rolls, bottle caps, egg boxes, cork, and polystyrene took center stage.
The event attracted families and craft enthusiasts who explored their creative sides, learned new skills, and connected with like-minded individuals.

Each participant contributed a unique artistic touch to the Christmas trees on display.
Marié Minnie from the Kindness Rock Garden in Northmead and Jenette White from Awanatu Art, Body and Soul offered free workshops on rock painting and CD paint dotting.
Alison Etherington of Clean Projects said the craft event aimed to inspire people to stop buying single-use products and embrace recycling.
“We wanted to show people that you can use whatever you have at home, like a toilet roll, to create something beautiful from recycled materials. We have decorated two wire trees and the Benoni Country Club’s Christmas tree. Under the tree, we placed the rocks which were painted by attendees,” said Etherington.
She added that the event was a success, with about 60 attendees, most of whom stayed from morning until the afternoon.
Cassidy Sanders (19), of Northmead, said she enjoyed every minute as she crafted eco-friendly decorations, including using a toilet roll to make a Christmas angel.
