The Benoni SPCA Cheer Fund is back

All funds donated to the SPCA qualify for a S18A tax certificate.

The Benoni SPCA’s annual Christmas Cheer Fund is now open, and members of the public are encouraged to make their donations.

Every year, around Christmas time, the SPCA’s kennels fill up with surrendered, stray, and abandoned animals.

The purpose of the Cheer Fund is to raise money to care for all the furry friends who must be fed and to provide Christmas treats for the unfortunate pets behind bars.

Last year, the society managed to raise a whopping R27 000.

This year, they are hoping to raise R150 000 to fulfil their wishes.

Benoni SPCA’s fundraising organiser, Monique Quenet, said their wish list includes purchasing a new vehicle for the society.

“We lost two vehicles this year; one was stolen, and the other was written off. We now have a full staff complement with our new field officers, but we don’t have enough vehicles.

Ideally, we need five vehicles, as we currently have three,” said Quenet.
