‘Estranged’ couple found dead in Lakefield home

Investigations into the matter are continuing.

A murder and inquest docket have been opened at Benoni SAPS after an estranged couple was found dead in their Lakefield home last night (December 20).

According to SAPS Ekurhuleni District spokesperson, Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, emergency personnel were deployed to the residence at 20:00 after gunshots were heard from the home.

“Upon arrival, a man and woman were found dead on the scene. Both had suffered gunshot wounds,” she said.

“The firearm suspected to have been used was found in the woman’s hand. It is alleged the couple were estranged.”

Nevhuhulwi added that events leading to the incident have not yet been established.

Benoni City Times is awaiting further information. A reliable source told us the incident happened in The Drive.

The Lakewest Residents’ Association confirmed the incident but would not supply any further detail.
