Crystal Park Police warn learners against bringing weapons to school

During a recent school search at Chief Albert Luthuli Secondary School, police discovered a knife, sharp mirrors, matchboxes, and other items.

Crystal Park SAPS have issued a stern warning to learners against bringing sharp objects or weapons to school.

According to Crystal Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mopeli, during their school searches, which are conducted regularly as part of their crime prevention efforts to ensure the safety of both learners and educators, they have uncovered dangerous items on school premises.

During a recent search at Chief Albert Luthuli Secondary School, conducted with Crime Prevention Wardens and CPF patrollers, Mopeli said they discovered a knife, sharp mirrors, matchboxes and other items.

A Crystal Park SAPS officer searches one of the learners at Chief Albert Luthuli Secondary School during a school search.

Mopeli said most of the learners found with these items are those who arrive late at school, bypassing the daily searches at the gate.

She urged learners to refrain from carrying any weapons to school, as this poses a serious risk to others.
