Possession of drugs
• Three men aged 30 to 32 were arrested on February 22 on charges of being in possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Following up on information, members of the Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) swooped on a house in Primrose, where a 32-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of 12 bags of dagga.
• On the same day, two men were arrested in Greenstone Ridge, Edenvale where they too were found in possession of a large bag containing dagga.
The value of the product recovered in the separate incidents is estimated at R60 000.
• Six suspects, aged between 21 to 29, were arrested in Kempton Park, Ivory Park Extension 2, Kaalfontein Extension 1 and Thembisa.
Meth, cocaine and Mandrax were recovered.
Rapid Response Services (RRS)
Units which form part of the RRS made 109 arrests across Gauteng, from February 14 to 20.
Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members participated in routine operations which led to arrest of 39 suspects on charges of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault of a police officer, possession of suspected stolen property, malicious damage to property, possession of car breaking implements, shoplifting, theft, intimidation, attempted kidnapping, common robbery, driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of precious metals, contravention of the Immigration Act, rape, murder and theft out of motor vehicle.
A total of 48 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered with 11 accompanying arrests.
Six unlicensed firearms were also recovered followed by 10 arrests on charges of being in possession of these weapons.
Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated with 49 suspects being arrested on charges of possession with the intent to sell.
