Melville Koppies: From burnt to beautiful in six months
The Koppies have been fighting back against devastating fires for millions of years.
Last winter, successive fires (planned and unplanned) raced through Melville Koppies, sizzling and scorching everything in their path.
Some fires lingered on, creeping through the parched undergrowth and finishing off what remained.
But the vegetation of the Koppies is used to devastating fires.

It’s been fighting back and regenerating for millions of years. Come and see for yourself.
The grasses are seeding, scorched trees are almost fully clothed again and everything is green and glowing.
