Learners show skills at mini-cricket festival
Around 27 learners were identified to start playing hard ball cricket.
Around 64 cricket enthusiasts from four Wattville primary schools showcased their talent during a regional KFC mini-cricket festival at Lords Cricket Ground in Actonville, recently.
The learners, from Solomon Motlana, Magalela-gase, Lesabe and Ekukhanyeni primary schools, were taught essential cricketing skills such as batting, bowling, fielding and hand and eye co-ordination.
During the festival, the learners faced each other in U11 and U13 matches, which provided a solid foundation for the youngsters to learn the basics of the game.
Out of the 64 participants, 27 were identified to start playing hardball cricket at Wattville Cricket Club.
