A knife allegedly used during the robbery was found inside the vehicle as well as a packet of heroin.

Units which fall under the RRS banner, including Flying Squad, K9 Unit and Highway Patrol, arrested 87 suspects across Gauteng, from March 14 to 19.

Participating in concentrated operations, officers brought 43 suspects to book on charges of assault with the intent on causing grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, house robbery, theft, common robbery, possession of explosives, malicious damage to property, possession of unlicensed ammunition, driving under the influence of alcohol, fraud, use of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, contravention of the immigration act and attempted murder.

A total of 29 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered, accompanied by 10 arrests on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.

Further policing led to the recovery of seven unlicensed firearms.

Three suspects were arrested for possession of these weapons.
