Panyaza Lesufi hands over serviced stands to beneficiaries
The department will provide building plans for beneficiaries to choose from, ranging in size from 35m² to 87m².
Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, along with MEC for Human Settlements Tasneem Motara and MMC for Human Settlements Kgopelo Hollo, handed over 1 620 serviced stands to deserving beneficiaries last month at Chris Hani Ext 4 to 7 in Daveyton.
The project is part of the Ikagaleng Rapid Land Release Programme, a strategic intervention designed to provide qualifying and approved beneficiaries with serviced stands, enabling them to build their own homes.
Aligned with the Gauteng vision, this programme aims to address the housing backlog in the province by promoting secure tenure through formal land ownership and title deed registration.

This helps people in Greater Benoni and the Northern Region, including Thembisa and Kempton Park, who earn R3 501 to R7 000 monthly.
Community members interested in this opportunity must be on the Department of Housing waiting list. Alternatively, they can visit the department’s nearest customer support centre to check their registration status.
Beneficiaries who receive land through the Ikagaleng programme must secure funding to build within 18 months and construct a formal structure within five years. Failure to do so will require them to return the land to the department.
