CAXTON SCHOOLS | Lomagundi and Helpmekaar thrill on day three of St Dunstan’s Easter Sport Fest
The thrilling rugby match ended 10-all.

Zimbabwean school, Lomagundi College and the Helpmekaar Barbarians played to a nail-biting 10-10 all draw, while Benoni High (BHS) beat Ashton Ballito 40-0, to close-off the rugby programme on the third day of the St Dunstan’s Easter Sports Festival.
Billed as the game to watch, especially after Helpies’ dominance of St George’s on Thursday, while Lomagundi eased past Springs Boys High, it lived up to expectation with the crowds on the stands and on the refreshment tent on the edge of their seats.

On the B-field, BHS made it two from two, scoring 40 unanswered points in their defence of Benoni after the hosts; St Dunstan’s lost 34-0 to Thomas More College.
Elsewhere, CBC Boksburg narrowly lost 24-20 to Hellenic Academy, while Springs Boys beat St John’s Harare seconds 22-5 in the earlier kick-off.
Midlands Christian School beat St Peter’s College 19-17 in another nail-biter, while Hillcrest beat Heritage School 22-17.

Hockey
The day three fixtures got off to a flyer as Hoerskool Goudveld girls dominated Jeppe 5-0 while St Dominic’s beat Steyn City 2-1 in the early morning matches.
St Peter’s College defeated The Heritage College 4-0 and Hillcrest was 4-0 victorious in their match against Curro Salt Rock.

Springs Boys clinched a 2-1 penalty shoot-out victory over Hillcrest after they played out to a 2-2 draw in regular time. Beaulieu College lost 5-1 to CBC Zim while St Dunstan’s continued their dominance with 3-1 win over St Peter’s college to qualify for the knockouts.
In other fixtures, Benoni High lost 3-2 on penalties to Hellenic while CBC Boksburg also lost 2-1 on penalties to Lomagundi after a 2-2 draw in normal time.
Netball
Reddam Waterfall and St Dunstan’s continued their dominance on day three as both teams won all their matches.

The day began with round seven and Reddam claimed a 28-14 win over St Peter’s while St Dunstan’s beat Hillcrest 34-27. There were also wins for Ashton Ballito, Hillcrest, Unity Secondary, Thomas More and Curro Salt Lake in that round.
The programme closed off with St Dunstan’s beating Ashton Ballito 26-17, while Thomas More beat Norkem Park 20-17 before losing 45-32 to Hillcrest.

Hillcrest also beat Falcon College 46-27 with Jeppe dominating Unity Secondary 54-10, before beating Falcon 45-11. Curro Salt Rock defeated St Francis 38-13 and St Peter’s beat Benoni High seconds 42-11.
After 11 rounds, St Dunstan’s top the standings with 19 points. Reddam are second on 17 points while Ashton Ballito is third on 16 points.
The festival concludes on Monday (April 21).
