SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS) units, including Flying Squad, Highway Patrol and K9 units, cracked the whip from May 2 to 8, arresting 98 suspects across Gauteng.
Participating in various concentrated operations, officers arrested 39 suspects on charges of assault common with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, murder, rape, driving under the influence of alcohol, domestic violence, robbery, contravention of the immigration act, hijacking, kidnapping, crimen injuria and theft.
A total of 37 hijacked and stolen vehicles were recovered, with five arrests on charges of being in possession of these vehicles.
One person was arrested for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm. The weapon was seized.
Further policing led to the arrest of 53 individuals on charges of being in possession of drugs, with the intent to sell.
Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were seized.
