More than 100 suspects arrested
Operations are set to continue in an effort to stamp out crime.
Members of the SAPS Rapid Response Services (RRS) which include Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol, arrested 104 suspects across Gauteng.
From April 25 to May 1, 42 suspects were arrested on charges of assault with the intent of causing grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen property, attempted murder, rape, driving under the influence of alcohol, malicious damage to property, pointing of a firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition, possession of gold bearing material, domestic violence, armed robbery, contravention of the immigration act, housebreak-in and theft.
Participating in concentrated operations members recovered 19 stolen and hijacked vehicles, accompanied by six arrests.
Three unlicensed firearms were also recovered, three suspects were arrested on charges of being in possession of these weapons.
Further policing led to the arrests of 53 persons on charges of being in possession of drugs with the intent to sell.
Heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and meth were confiscated.
