Court sentences man (20) for raping siblings when he was 14
A thorough investigation led to Hlongwane’s conviction in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court.

The Benoni Magistrate’s Court has handed down a seven-year direct imprisonment sentence to Bongani Hlongwane (20) for two counts of rape committed in December 2019 when he was 14 years old.
It is reported that Hlongwane was visiting his mother in Wattville, who was in a relationship with the uncle of his two victims, an 11-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy.
According to Ekurhuleni district police spokesperson Captain Nelda Sekgobela, on the day of the incident, Hlongwane lent the girl money and later demanded it back.
“When she was unable to pay, he demanded sexual intercourse and when the girl refused, Hlongwane forcefully raped her.”
Sekgobela stated that while Hlongwane raped the girl, her nine-year-old brother witnessed the crime. Hlongwane called the young boy and forced him to penetrate his sister.
The case was reported to the Actonville SAPS and assigned to Detective Sergeant Goodman Masondo of the Benoni Family Violence, Child Protection Services and Sexual Offences Unit.
Masondo’s thorough investigation led to Hlongwane’s conviction in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court recently.
