Benoni SAPS Sector 6 Youth Desk hosts safety campaign
The venue buzzed with youth-led entrepreneurial stalls offering a variety of foods, showcasing young people’s creativity and business knowledge.
In celebration of Youth Day, the Benoni SAPS Sector 6 Youth Desk hosted a successful awareness campaign on June 14, aimed at equipping families with essential tools to respond swiftly in the event of a missing loved one.
Held opposite Mackenzie Shopping Centre, the lively community event focused on assisting residents in completing personal identification forms, which included fingerprints and other identifiable markers.
These completed forms were then returned to the families for safekeeping — providing a potentially life-saving resource should someone go missing.

Children, accompanied by their parents, as well as elderly residents, took advantage of the initiative, which offered a proactive and practical approach to safety.
The venue also buzzed with youth-led entrepreneurial stalls offering a variety of food and treats, showcasing the creativity, initiative, and business acumen of local young people.
Chairperson of the Benoni SAPS CPF Youth Desk, Halima Kadir, said the campaign was well-received, with around 20 individuals having their fingerprints recorded.

Kadir previously shared that when a loved one goes missing, the panic can be overwhelming.
“It’s a terrifying moment — your mind becomes your worst enemy. Having this kind of information readily available can make a crucial difference. It gives families a sense of control, and that’s something no one should be without in an emergency,” she explained.
