Uncle (50) in court for alleged rape of 14-year-old niece

A 50-year-old man from Daveyton appearance in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court on June 9 for allegedly raping his 14-year-old niece.

According to Daveyton SAPS spokesperson Constable Ntando Ngomane, the alleged rape incident came to light after the victim’s sister enquired about the victim’s menstrual cycles, having noticed that the victim had missed her period.

It is reported that the sister bought her a pregnancy test, and upon testing, the results were positive.

“The sister then enquired who impregnated her. The victim alleged that her uncle raped her on May 17, while the sister was visiting Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.

“The victim said the uncle forced himself on her while she was sleeping and threatened her not to inform the sister,” said Ngomane.
